Adult Supported Living & Community Supports
ADULT SUPPORTED LIVING:
The Supported Living Program assists and supports adults with developmental disabilities to discover and create a future of their own personal choice. The program provides support in a natural environment to reflect the individual's choice, provide options and foster independence in all aspects of daily living. These supports include, but are not limited to, residential, vocational and leisure time activities.

The program is coordinated with other resources in the community to provide opportunity for an integrated and independent life.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTS:
Community Supports includes any individually designed service that will assist an eligible person to live more independently in the community of their choice.

Some examples available are:

  • Adaptive equipment/environmental modification/assistive technology;
  • Basic academic skills (reading, writing, math, etc.)
  • Daily living skills (assistance with eating, bathing, toileting, transferring, dressing, grooming);
  • Communication skills (oral, written, non-verbal)
  • Life issues and transition (leaving home, substance abuse, parenting, divorce, retirement, death, sexuality, etc.)
  • Self advocacy and assertiveness training;
  • Work services, work behavior and skills exploration
  • Management of personal and legal affairs.
